Founded in 1999 we aim
to provide support principally to other parents bereaved by suicide, but
anyone else trying to come to terms with a suicide loss is welcome to
contact us as well. If you are specifically seeking support from
someone who has personal experience of the loss by suicide of their
partner please go to our contacts page.
We are not
professional advisors or trained
bereavement counsellors, but all those who help run the group or answer
the support line have lost either a son or daughter to suicide.
Talking to someone who
has been through the same traumatic experience is often beneficial. Meeting
other mothers and fathers who have faced the aftermath of the suicide of
their child sometime ago can show that you too, in your own time, can learn to cope and that
the thoughts and
feelings you are probably experiencing are both normal and common to us
all.
Informal meetings,
for those who have been bereaved by suicide, are
held in
Farnborough, Hampshire, in a friendly home environment.
In England every 2 hours somebody dies as a result of suicide. Most people who commit suicide are severely depressed. The majority of suicides now occur in young adult males. Suicide is the most
common cause of death in men under 35. Suicide is the main cause of premature death in those suffering from mental illness.
If you are feeling
suicidal and are looking for help then please go to the Contacts page.
If you have experienced
a suicide bereavement then please look through the rest of our site.
